Promoter Development

The research we did as part of Phrased & Confused in 2004 showed that there was a dearth of development opportunities for emerging spoken word producers. Our experience tells us that it’s promoters and producers who are key to a healthy touring circuit – in what ever art form. So, we set about putting together a development programme for 15 emerging producers from around the country.

Over four one-day session in February and March 2007, we worked with a group of some of the most inspiring and enthusiastic people we’ve ever come across, covering topics such as fundraising, marketing, budgeting, digital technology as well as the more practical issues, such as event management, contracts and production. Feedback was universally positive, and we hope to be able to repeat the programme in the near future. Watch this space…
