As soon as we met poet and comedian Mark and MC Mixy to discuss their ideas for Dead Poets we knew they’d be great for Phrased and Confused. We commissioned the work for Summer Sundae and are now pleased to be unleashing them on their first national tour!

Dead Poets is a series of character-based sketches which plays with the stereotypes that surround poetry and MCing and – get this – takes the audience back and forth along the poetry-MCing time continuum. Oh, yes, you may have thought that Doctor Who is the pinnacle of cultural time travel story telling, but not any more…There’s Mixy’s first in-school encounters with the great poets and rules of poetry; Mark’s musings on a love poem from Sir Walter to Amy Winehouse, plus Poetry is the Old Rock ‘n’ Roll, a piece where the two explore that biggy again – love.

With his laugh-out-loud comedy musings, improbable ponderings and fast-paced delivery, Mark is rapidly becoming a favourite on the spoken word circuit, and – along with Mixy – recently supported Scroobius Pip on his national tour. Mixy meanwhile has been MC-ing for over 10 years, and has released an album BoToX Byche on Fat Face Records, under the moniker So-T.
